Common Environmental Impact Assessment Standard for ICT Industry – ETSI

ETSI has published TS 103 199, a new technical standard that establishes a common life cycle assessment method for the ICT sector to evaluate the complete environmental impact of products and services. This standard applies ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 methodologies along with European Commission guidance to measure greenhouse gas emissions, energy usage, and other impact categories from material extraction through to end-of-life disposal. By providing a harmonized framework for the entire ICT supply chain, the standard aims to improve the quality, comparability, and credibility of environmental assessments while supporting the European Commission’s Digital Agenda goals for reduced emissions.
