ETSI announces first interoperability event for future railway communication – ETSI

The FRMCS Plugtests event in Sophia Antipolis will validate interoperability for the future railway communication standard FRMCS, which is based on 3GPP Mission Critical Services to provide higher throughput and flexible deployment. The remote testing will utilize Over-The-Top VPN connections to verify equipment including MCX application servers, clients, UEs, cab radios, and IMS cores against 3GPP, ETSI, and IETF standards. Specific railway-oriented capabilities such as Functional Aliases, Multi-talker services, and MCData IP connectivity will be assessed using test cases from ETSI TS 103 564 and new scenarios developed for this event. The event aims to independently and jointly test all mobile communication system components for railways while offering interop demonstrations for observers.
