ETSI announces MEC 5G Integration Report and extension of ISG MEC – ETSI

The report details how Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) systems can leverage 5G network functions exposed via the Network Exposure Function (NEF) to influence traffic routing and User Plane Function selection. It highlights the alignment between the MEC API framework and the 3GPP Common API Framework (CAPIF) to simplify developer interactions and enable local data network access. ETSI ISG MEC will update its specifications to address identified gaps, including new requirements and architectural enhancements for 5G core interfacing. Following a two-year extension, the group of over 110 members will focus on MEC as heterogeneous clouds, expanding life cycle management and coordination between MEC and cloud systems.
