ETSI mission-critical Plugtests event tests direct-mode communication – ETSI

Over 200 participants, including government and operator representatives, evaluated more than 360 MCX and FRMCS test scenarios at the University of Malaga to validate 3GPP-defined mission-critical services for emergency responders. The event focused on assessing new devices that integrate data and video capabilities over 4G and 5G networks, marking the first time these technologies were tested in direct off-network mode without cellular coverage. These interoperability trials are essential for manufacturers to confirm that their equipment interpretations align with industry standards, ensuring seamless connectivity across different vendors for critical infrastructure and railway communications.
