ETSI releases a standard for NFV Deployment Templates – ETSI

ETSI has released GS NFV-SOL 001, a specification defining rules for structuring NFV descriptors using the TOSCA Simple Profile in YAML format. This document covers Virtualized Network Function Descriptors (VNFD), Network Service Descriptors (NSD), and Physical Network Function Descriptors (PNFD) to enable interoperability between independently developed management and orchestration systems. By establishing a standardized structure alongside the VNF package specification in GS NFV-SOL 004, the release aims to foster a truly open ecosystem for VNF onboarding and management. The specification also provides access to necessary TOSCA type definitions via the ETSI Forge website to ensure compliance.
