ETSI has released specification TS 103 379, which defines the LSA1 application protocol and information elements required for spectrum sharing coordination between Licensed Shared Access licensees and existing spectrum holders in the 2 300 MHz to 2 400 MHz band. This new document completes a suite of standards that enables interoperable implementation of LSA Repositories and Controllers to ensure Quality of Service for mobile broadband services. The architecture relies on the LSA Repository to manage spectrum availability based on regulatory regimes, while the LSA Controller ensures network configurations comply with instructions and confirms synchronization through the defined protocol. These specifications were developed under the European Commission’s Mandate M/512 and are intended to support future 5G spectrum needs, with potential extensions to other bands and additional features planned for future releases.
