ETSI sets a worldwide first with a tractor that communicates with cars – ETSI

At an ETSI event in Sophia Antipolis, a John Deere tractor demonstrated interoperable communication with road vehicles using a oneM2M standard to warn drivers up to one kilometer away. This system aims to reduce the nearly 400 annual fatal accidents in Europe caused by low-speed farm vehicles by providing visual and auditory alerts to motorists. The demonstration highlights the collaboration between agricultural manufacturers and ETSI to ensure connected transport solutions are standardized and interoperable across different vehicle types. By integrating these technologies, the industry seeks to halve fatal accidents involving farm machinery by 2035.
