ETSI unveils NFV&MEC 2020 Interoperability Report: Strong focus on Containerized and 5G Network Services – ETSI

Over 40 organizations and 170 engineers participated in the remote NFV&MEC Plugtests 2020, achieving interoperability rates between 75% and 93% across more than 65 solutions. The event marked the first joint NFV and MEC track, successfully testing commercial 5G Core solutions and validating cloud-native containerized VNFs against NFV Release 4 specifications with a 93% success rate. Key technical outcomes included the introduction of a new Robot Framework test suite based on ETSI GS NFV-SOL 016 and expanded validation of MEC APIs and multi-app scenarios. These results confirmed NFV as a critical enabler for 5G networks while identifying bugs and inconsistencies to improve future specification releases.
