New ETSI specification allows single UICC to support the use of multiple applications simultaneously – ETSI

Denis Praca, Chair of the ETSI SET group, announced the release of new UICC Release 17 specifications designed to enable multiple services and subscriptions on a single mobile device without requiring multiple physical SIM cards. These standards leverage GSMA eSIM technologies to allow secure management of multiple accounts while maintaining long-term recognized security for end-users and service providers. The committee, which develops Secure Element specifications for telecommunications and IoT, now seeks mobile network operators and application providers to collaborate on creating applications that run on this new platform.
