Five new 6G projects funded by the EU’s SNS JU with a total budget of €42.7 million are launching in January 2025 to advance sustainability, resilience, and inclusive innovation. The SUSTAIN-6G and AMBIENT-6G initiatives focus on embedding environmental principles and developing energy-neutral IoT devices to reduce carbon emissions and waste. Meanwhile, the 6G-VERSUS project utilizes a triadic framework of vertical, network, and AI applications to test sustainable solutions across key industries, while the ARROW project enhances network reliability against disasters and cyberattacks through AI-driven monitoring. Finally, the SNS-CO OP project fosters global collaboration and standardization to ensure Europe maintains a competitive position in the 6G landscape. Collectively, these efforts aim to establish a responsible digital infrastructure that aligns technological progress with societal and environmental priorities.
