A delegation from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, visited the University of Oulu to explore research partnerships in 6G, hydrogen energy, and cybersecurity. The visit highlighted the university’s 6G Flagship programme, which involves nearly 600 global collaborators and focuses on advanced wireless technologies, smart computing, and AI-driven networks. Discussions also covered sustainable chemistry initiatives for battery materials and hydrogen production, alongside critical research on carbon accounting for industrial finance. The group concluded with insights from Professor Kimmo Halunen on the necessity of robust digital defenses for smart energy grids and the SafeEarth project’s approach to multi-domain security threats. These exchanges established a foundation for future collaboration between the two regions in key technological and sustainability sectors.
