Oulu researchers secure major funding for AI-driven projects tackling climate and growth challenges

The Strategic Research Council has awarded 29 million euros to two six-year AI-driven projects led by the University of Oulu to address climate change and economic growth challenges. The CO2CREATION project utilizes AI-based digital twins to model and simulate industrial carbon management ecosystems, specifically developing methods for distributed learning where data sharing is restricted. The second initiative, TRANSFORM-AI, investigates how artificial intelligence, intangible assets, and leadership can overcome Finland’s innovation paradox to boost productivity and guide public-sector decision-making. Both projects integrate ethical and regulatory expertise to ensure sustainable development and a just transition while delivering practical tools for industry and policy.
