ETSI launches second release of TeraFlowSDN, its open source Cloud-Native SDN Orchestrator and Controller for transport networks – ETSI

TeraFlowSDN Release 2 delivers validated end-to-end transport network slicing across multiple domains, completing SDN orchestration for L2/L3VPN, microwave networks, and XR optical transceivers via the ONF TAPI. The update introduces full control for OpenConfig-based routers and P4 white boxes, enabling pipeline loading, flow table retrieval, and runtime entry injection to maximize switch capabilities. Scalability and resilience have been significantly improved through a redesigned Context Component utilizing CockroachDB, while Service Level Agreement validation has been re-engineered across all management workflows. New features include Slice Grouping, an energy-aware Path Computation Component, and enhanced cybersecurity mechanisms with distributed attack detection and Hyperledger Fabric integration. The software remains open source under the Apache 2.0 license, with Release 2.1 scheduled for June 2023 to include further contributions and security patches.
