The ICON and ECO-eNET projects are hosting a joint workshop on May 20 at Tallinn University of Technology to explore the integration of optical sensing and next-generation communication systems for resilient critical infrastructure. The full-day event features interactive demonstrations of 600 Gbit/s transceivers, Distributed Acoustic Sensing, and Quantum Key Distribution, alongside expert discussions on spectrum-as-a-service and THz link technologies. Participants will engage in a guided machine learning hackathon to analyze real-world optical sensing data, highlighting the potential of joint communication and sensing grids across multi-vendor environments. This initiative is funded by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking under the EU Horizon Europe programme.
