Susan Schima, a leader in microfabricated systems, has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the development of chip-scale clocks and quantum sensors at NIST. Since 2005, she has provided essential microfabrication expertise for numerous atomic-clock and sensing projects that rely on atomic vapor cells. Her work has been crucial in ensuring the success of multiple generations of these instruments, which have been widely used in scientific collaborations within and outside of NIST, as well as around the world. Schima’s leadership, teamwork, and dedication have been instrumental in advancing the field of microfabricated atomic instruments.
