ASCET Maps Quantum Standardization Landscape, Identifies U.S. Gaps to Sustain U.S. Leadership | ASTM

The ASCET Center of Excellence, in partnership with ASTM, has released a report mapping the current landscape of quantum standardization across computing, sensing, and measurement. Rather than introducing a specific new protocol, the study identifies critical gaps in pre-standardization activities, such as testing methods and result consistency, that must be addressed to ensure formal standards are ready in time to support U.S. competitiveness. This map serves as a shared resource for government, industry, and academic stakeholders to see where coordinated action is most needed.

The report highlights opportunities to reduce industry fragmentation and establish better quality management approaches, with a specific focus on modular testing frameworks for specific applications. While the scan is now available, the next phase of work includes convenings and pilot programs to close these standards gaps. A follow-up webinar is scheduled for April 2026 to discuss how experts can align their efforts to sustain U.S. leadership in quantum technologies.
