Dr. Marja Matinmikko-Blue has been appointed Director of Sustainability and Regulation for the 6G Flagship, formalizing the program’s commitment to integrating regulatory and environmental considerations into future mobile networks. With over two decades of experience in spectrum analysis, ITU cognitive radio studies, and UN Sustainable Development Goals alignment, she brings a cross-disciplinary background in engineering and stakeholder management to the role. In this capacity, she will address the regulatory, business, and technical aspects of 6G to ensure deployments are ubiquitous, affordable, and capable of reducing the telecommunications sector’s environmental footprint. Her work aims to leverage 6G technologies to support global economic growth while helping industries combat major sustainability challenges like climate change.
