Professor Matti Latva-aho, Director of the 6G Flagship, has been appointed as the first Global Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Engineering to strengthen Finnish-Japanese 6G cooperation. This role builds upon a June 2021 Memorandum of Understanding between the 6G Flagship and Japan’s Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium, facilitating joint research on next-generation wireless technologies. The collaboration aims to advance 6G capabilities beyond simple speed improvements, focusing on enhanced power efficiency, security, and seamless network integration. Professor Latva-aho will work alongside Professor Akihiro Nakao to leverage the combined strengths of both institutions in developing these future communication standards.
