ETSI unveils 2024 Fellows rewarding outstanding personal contribution – ETSI

Dr. Howard Benn, Philippe Magneron, Dr. Matthias Schneider, Isabelle Valet-Harper, and Dirk Weiler have been inducted as ETSI Fellows for their decades of leadership in mobile, short-range device, and accessibility standards. Benn and Weiler were pivotal in the development of GSM and 3GPP radio specifications, while Magneron established global standards for license-exempt technologies through his work on EN 300 220. Schneider has driven the creation of European accessibility legislation and policies, and Valet-Harper ensured governance frameworks remained fit for a dynamic standard-setting environment. Their collective contributions span technical specification development, governance, and the promotion of open, consensus-based standardization across the global ecosystem.
