IEEE Finland Best Thesis Awards Celebrate Emerging Talent in Signal Processing and Circuits

The IEEE Finland Chapter on Signal Processing and Circuits and Systems recognized two early-career researchers at the University of Oulu for their 2025 thesis work. Sumit Pratap Singh received the Doctoral Dissertation Award for developing silicon-based radio receiver front-end ICs at sub-THz and THz frequencies, a critical technology for future 6G systems. Vili-Valtteri Ojala won the Master’s Thesis Award for proposing a fast convergence, low-complexity method for digital predistortion parameter estimation to enhance transmitter linearity and power efficiency. The event also featured a keynote by Nokia’s Oskari Tervo on the trajectory of cellular networks toward 6G, underscoring the growing academic and industrial focus on next-generation wireless standards.
