ETSI has launched the SDG OpenOP group to develop a standardized, open-source platform that simplifies network service exposure and enables seamless federation across operator platforms for 6G evolution. Born from the EU-funded SUNRISE-6G project, the initiative will leverage GSMA requirements and Linux Foundation CAMARA APIs while integrating with southbound technologies like Kubernetes, 3GPP Network Exposure Functions, and ETSI MEC. The platform aims to provide a neutral environment for researchers, SMEs, and telecom operators to collaboratively test innovations in verticals such as Industrial IoT, automotive, and smart agriculture. Founding members include major European entities like Intracom Telecom, Motorola Mobility, and Orange Romania, with a kick-off meeting scheduled for July 2025 in Torino.
