The SAFE-6G project has published a journal survey titled “A User-Centric Perspective of 6G Networks,” which outlines the shift from 5G’s service-oriented model to architectures tailored to individual user requirements. The paper details how achieving new key performance indicators, such as microsecond-level latency and massive capacity, relies on technologies like edge computing, THz communications, and cell-free systems. It further emphasizes the critical role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in optimizing network performance while ensuring enhanced security and privacy for users. This comprehensive review serves to illuminate the various architectural aspects necessary to support immersive applications like the metaverse and digital twins in the 6G era.
