ETSI standards focus on energy efficiency and sustainability – ETSI

ETSI has long driven the development of standards to improve energy efficiency in ICT, covering fixed and mobile networks, data centers, and in-home devices through guidelines on measurement methods, power distribution, and environmental requirements. A recent workshop in Genoa highlighted these existing achievements while proposing new techniques to further enhance the sustainability of future telecommunications services. The event emphasized the need for the global ICT industry to achieve significant efficiency improvements to meet growing demands while supporting emission reductions in other sectors. Coordination with other standards bodies and regulators was a key outcome, supported by the ECONET research project under the European Commission’s seventh Framework Programme.
