Open Networking Foundation and ETSI announce strategic collaboration for SDN support of NFV – ETSI

ETSI and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) have formalized a collaboration to advance Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) standards, specifically focusing on dynamic, programmable virtualized network function forwarding graphs. This partnership leverages ONF’s OpenFlow protocol to support ETSI’s NFV Industry Specification Group goals, aiming to demonstrate how SDN can enable scalable and elastic network architectures for operators. The organizations will jointly evaluate Proof of Concept results that integrate both technologies to address challenges in automated, open network connectivity. A new solution brief detailing how OpenFlow-enabled SDN accelerates NFV deployments has been released to guide operators in achieving greater network agility.
