Now published by ETSI, newly updated global IoT standards from oneM2M will enable interconnection across devices and applications – ETSI

ETSI has published the oneM2M Release 1 Technical Specifications, a global standard designed to enable IoT interworking through a unified architecture, API, and security framework that maps to protocols like CoAP, MQTT, and HTTP. These updated specifications incorporate feedback from early implementations and the first Interop event, allowing service providers to combine diverse devices and applications without vendor lock-in. The release has already been deployed in smart city and transport projects across South Korea, Asia, and Europe, with tender requirements increasingly mandating its inclusion. Work is now underway on Release 2, which will enhance security, support home and industrial domains, and improve interoperability with ecosystems such as AllSeen and OCF.
