ETSI and VRARA cooperate on Virtual and Augmented Reality – ETSI

ETSI and the VR/AR Association (VRARA) have formed a partnership to align Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) standards with the specific latency and performance requirements of virtual and augmented reality applications. This collaboration aims to ensure that ETSI’s ongoing MEC Phase 2 specifications address the critical need for millisecond-level latency to support immersive VR/AR experiences. By working together, both organizations will identify common use cases and promote the adoption of edge computing solutions among developers and enterprise buyers. The initiative highlights that while mobile networks provide essential connectivity, edge computing is necessary to deliver the low-latency performance required for these transformative technologies.
