ETSI CIM group releases full-feature specification for context information exchange in Smart Cities – ETSI

The ETSI Industry Specification Group for Context Information Management has released GS CIM 009, a full-feature specification for the NGSI-LD API designed to standardize context data exchange in Smart City applications. This specification leverages property graph data models to enable cross-domain sharing of complex relationships between entities like vehicles and buildings while supporting privacy restrictions under GDPR. By utilizing the JSON-LD serialization format, the API allows data and its contextual metadata to be transmitted together, facilitating rapid adoption by developers familiar with FIWARE NGSIv2 and Linked Data communities. The standard is already being referenced in major EU research programs and will be piloted in Bordeaux through the SynchroniCity project to test interoperability with oneM2M architectures.
