ETSI GR MEC 0035 introduces a foundational signalling framework for federated Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) systems to enable shared services across multiple operators and equipment manufacturers. The report analyzes eight specific use cases, including V2X service continuity, location-based augmented reality, and application instance transfers between MEC and cloud environments. These findings provide technical recommendations to address key coordination challenges in heterogeneous cloud scenarios and edge-node sharing. As the first deliverable of Phase 3, this work supports the ISG’s broader focus on MEC security enhancements and lifecycle management. The standardization effort aims to align with GSMA requirements to prevent duplication and unlock the full potential of federated MEC ecosystems.
