The July 2, 2025 6G4Society meetup in Ghent explored the convergence of AI, IoT, and 6G, emphasizing Europe’s alignment of technical development with societal use cases for the expected 2030 deployment. Prof. Dr. Adnan Shahid presented research on a unified Wireless Physical-layer Foundation Model using patching-based Transformers to enable agentic AI for autonomous network adaptation. Tom Collins highlighted the BOLSTER project, an Open-RAN compliant tactical network funded by Belgian Defense designed to create resilient communication bubbles for disaster response and secure drone operations. The event also discussed the shifting 6G narrative toward localized roaming and the increasing value of intelligent, adaptive infrastructure over raw spectrum connectivity.
