At Mobile World Congress 2025, the SNS JU highlighted Europe’s strategic vision for 6G through a high-level session emphasizing a holistic, end-to-end approach that integrates AI, edge computing, and cloud-native architectures to ensure security and sustainability. SNS projects showcased breakthroughs in AI-enabled sensing, digital twins, and autonomous mobility, reinforcing the role of research in securing Europe’s digital sovereignty and closing the innovation gap. Concurrently, the SNS JU released a pre-release white paper on 6G architecture that outlines key building blocks like federated experimentation platforms and standardized APIs, while also addressing the critical role of AI/ML as a fundamental enabler for future networks. These initiatives are supported by €1.8 billion in public funding and aim to drive industrial transformation through collaborative standardization and real-world use cases across sectors like healthcare, smart cities, and logistics.
