University of Oulu opens new professorship in System on Chip Technologies

The University of Oulu, supported by Nokia, MediaTek, and Nordic Semiconductor, has established a new five-year professorship in System on Chip (SoC) technologies to pioneer 6G wireless systems. This initiative aims to develop SoC designs capable of enabling data rates approaching 1 Tbit/s by the 2030s, building on the region’s established leadership in 3G through 5G evolution. Partner companies view the position as a strategic investment to deepen collaboration, foster disruptive connectivity concepts, and cultivate specialized SoC talent in the Oulu region. The application period for the role concludes on October 31st.
