The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) and the European Space Agency (ESA) have signed a Memorandum of Intent to accelerate the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks for 6G, aiming to deliver ubiquitous and resilient connectivity across Europe. This collaboration will prioritize large-scale trials of 6G connectivity for key sectors such as mobility, agriculture, and utilities while providing SNS JU projects access to ESA’s advanced ground and in-orbit testing facilities. By combining SNS JU’s network expertise with ESA’s space infrastructure, the partnership seeks to develop open industry standards and validate interoperable solutions that enhance European technological sovereignty. The initiative is designed to foster innovation among SMEs and researchers, ultimately supporting the deployment of seamless, high-quality services for European citizens and industries.
