ETSI creates new standardization group to pave the way for Next Generation Protocols – ETSI

The ETSI Next Generation Protocols Industry Specification Group (NGP ISG) has launched to define requirements for evolving protocol stacks and network architectures essential for future 5G systems. The group will address critical technical challenges including addressing, security, mobility, and specific needs from the Internet of Things, ultra-low latency sectors, and energy efficiency. By collaborating with other standards bodies, the ISG aims to ensure that core network protocols evolve in parallel with radio access improvements to fully realize 5G performance potential. Participation is open to all ETSI members and non-members who agree to the ISG terms, with the goal of delivering scalable and secure architectures for the 21st-century connected society.
