ETSI Seeks Harmonization of NFV Information Modelling across Standards Bodies and Open Source – ETSI

Over 90 experts from leading Standards Development Organizations and open source communities gathered at CableLabs to address fragmentation in NFV information and data models, which currently increases implementation costs and delays time to market. The workshop fostered a new collaboration plan among key bodies including ETSI NFV, 3GPP, IETF, and ONF to align on consistent open APIs and unified modeling approaches for network automation. This joint effort aims to eliminate silos, accelerate interoperability, and unlock the full operational benefits of NFV for service providers by the end of 2016. Participants agreed to monitor progress through regular conference calls and will provide initial feedback in March 2016 to ensure the industry moves toward a cohesive ecosystem.
