ETSI Mobile Edge Computing ISG announces first Proofs of Concept – ETSI

The ETSI ISG MEC has published specifications on service scenarios and a Proof of Concept framework, alongside three demonstrations covering RAN-aware video optimization and edge orchestration. Ongoing development focuses on technical requirements, reference architectures, and metrics, with early 2016 work set to define application-agnostic APIs that ensure guaranteed service level agreements across multivendor ecosystems. This technology complements NFV and SDN to transform mobile networks into programmable platforms, serving as a key enabler for 5G, IoT, and mission-critical vertical solutions.
