The ETSI-led Cloud Standards Coordination initiative has released a comprehensive report mapping over 100 cloud use cases and 150 relevant standards to support the European Commission’s policy objectives. The document defines key roles in cloud computing and classifies standardization activities required throughout the service lifecycle, revealing that current standardization efforts are more focused and maturing than previously anticipated. By providing a detailed mapping of standards to these activities, the report aims to enhance security, interoperability, and data portability for cloud service providers and customers. This work supports the European Cloud Computing Strategy’s goal of creating 2.5 million new jobs and boosting EU GDP by 2020 through a transparent, open collaboration among over 20 standards-setting organizations.
