ETSI launches IoT ontology for automotive, eHealth, wearables and water distribution – ETSI

ETSI has released six new SAREF extensions covering sectors such as automotive, eHealth, wearables, and water applications, each structured with an ontology part and specific use case examples. These extensions adhere to principles of reusing existing concepts, modularity, extensibility, and maintainability to ensure the ontology evolves with industry needs. The automotive extension addresses platooning and automated valet parking, while the eHealth version focuses on lifestyle monitoring and cardiovascular early warning systems. Additional extensions provide semantic frameworks for wearable health monitoring and water metering infrastructure, all designed to enhance IoT interoperability alongside protocols like oneM2M.
