ETSI releases migration strategies and recommendations for Quantum-Safe schemes – ETSI

ETSI has released a new technical report outlining a three-stage framework to help organizations migrate to a Fully Quantum-Safe Cryptographic State (FQSCS) in response to the existential threat posed by quantum computing. The migration process begins with compiling a detailed inventory of cryptographic assets, followed by a planning stage that assumes a like-for-like replacement of asymmetric and symmetric protections while accounting for potential redesigns. The final execution phase utilizes specific checklists to manage the transition while minimizing disruption to existing business functions. This initiative aims to raise awareness of long-term data sensitivity and counter harvesting attacks by ensuring businesses are prepared for future quantum decryption capabilities.
