ETSI Multi-access Edge Computing keeps pace with 5G – ETSI

ETSI’s Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) ISG has released two new white papers titled “Cloud RAN and MEC: a perfect pairing” and “MEC deployments in 4G and evolution towards 5G,” which analyze the complementary nature of these technologies and outline deployment scenarios for the transition from 4G to 5G. To accelerate adoption and interoperability, the group has also launched a Hackathon framework that enables operators, vendors, and developers to build edge applications using ETSI specifications and the open source Forge repository. This initiative aims to provide end-to-end solution guidance and foster market-driven collaboration among industry stakeholders to realize 5G capabilities.
