ETSI has released updated Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) specifications that expand the scope to any access technology and integrate with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The new ETSI GS MEC 002 defines requirements to promote interoperability, while ETSI GS MEC 003 introduces a MEC-in-NFV reference architecture to allow edge deployments to function within broader NFV cloud environments. Additionally, the release package includes ETSI GR MEC 022, which details MEC support for vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle use cases, and ETSI GS MEC 026, which addresses regulatory compliance requirements. These updates aim to create a more efficient, open, and interoperable edge computing marketplace.
