A global initiative led by six major standards development organizations, including ETSI, ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, TIA, and TTA, aims to establish agreed-upon M2M end-to-end specifications with an initial focus on the Service Layer. The primary technical goal is to create common architecture principles and use cases that lower operating costs, accelerate time-to-market, and prevent standardization overlap across multiple industries. This collaborative effort will balance regional requirements to support global harmonization and is scheduled to begin technical work in early 2012. Participation is open to interested organizations to ensure diverse market inputs and flexible engagement levels.
