Mobile and Broadcast converge in new ETSI specification group – ETSI

ETSI’s Mobile and Broadcast Convergence (MBC) Industry Specification Group will examine deployment strategies and business models for converged networks that deliver both linear and non-linear media to fixed and mobile devices. The group aims to address the technical and commercial challenges of shifting from traditional one-way broadcasting to hybrid solutions that can handle increased traffic from smartphones and tablets. While the ISG will not dictate spectrum allocation, it will explore regulatory and authorization models that affect the industry’s business frameworks. The first meeting is scheduled for June 22-23, 2016, in Guildford, UK, with participation open to all ETSI members and non-members.
