India has officially adopted the TSDSI transposition of the oneM2M global standard as a national standard for its IoT and M2M ecosystem, a move designed to ensure interoperability, security, and multi-vendor support for the country’s Smart City Mission. This standardization provides a vertical-agnostic framework that enables common service functionalities, allowing application providers to deploy scalable M2M services across diverse sectors while fostering a level playing field for Indian startups. By mandating this standardized technology, India aims to accelerate the growth of its IoT market and facilitate the realization of a digitally connected society with over 100 smart cities. The adoption underscores the critical role of global collaboration in reducing complexity and enabling mass deployment of IoT applications across industries.
