The Car Connectivity Consortium has announced a cooperation agreement with ETSI to formally explore adopting MirrorLink as an ETSI Technical Specification for connected car technology. This move aims to standardize the OS-agnostic technology that safely mirrors smartphone apps to vehicle dashboards, thereby reducing driver distraction through large icons and motion-aware interfaces. ETSI will evaluate MirrorLink within its Intelligent Transport Systems committee, which already leads global standardization efforts for cooperative vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-roadside communication. The agreement validates MirrorLink’s widespread deployment, with millions of compatible handsets and vehicles currently in use across Europe.
