Professors Aarno Pärssinen and Mika Ylianttila from the University of Oulu have been named IEEE Fellows, the highest grade of membership awarded for significant contributions to global technology. Pärssinen received the honor for his work on direct conversion and digital RF transceivers, advancing hardware-aware architectures for future 6G systems up to 300 GHz. Ylianttila was recognized for his extensive research in network security, trust, and privacy, particularly regarding AI-assisted communications and 5G/6G vulnerabilities. Both researchers lead key units within the Centre for Wireless Communications, contributing to the 6G Flagship program through rigorous theoretical and experimental work. This achievement marks the fifth IEEE Fellow from the center, highlighting the institution’s growing influence in next-generation wireless standards.
