ETSI publishes new Technical Report on user-centric frameworks for smart, data-driven digital ecosystems – ETSI

ETSI Technical Report TR 104 027 introduces the User Information System (UIS) framework to shift data control from service providers to individual users, enabling sovereign management of personal information through digital twins and AI agents. This architecture supports Smart Customised Services (SCS) that prioritize selective disclosure, personalized service composition, and enhanced autonomy over the traditional “share all” model. The report establishes a foundation for future standards on microservices and AI-based user representations, with development led by ETSI technical committees focused on securing AI, cybersecurity, and privacy. By embedding user preferences directly into technical architectures, the framework aims to foster a more ethical, transparent, and participatory digital ecosystem.
