ETSI publishes European Standards for Intelligent Transport Systems – ETSI

ETSI has published two new European standards, EN 302 637-2 and EN 302 637-3, to standardize Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for improved road safety and traffic efficiency. The first standard defines the Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) syntax and semantics, enabling regular wireless exchange of position and dynamic data between vehicles and roadside infrastructure. The second standard establishes the Decentralized Environmental Notification (DEN) Basic Service, which facilitates the dissemination of hazard warnings to alert drivers of abnormal traffic conditions. Together, these specifications support vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications to enable safer, more efficient driving applications across Europe.
