Huawei’s Renato Lombardi was elected chair and NEC Europe’s Nader Zei as vice chair of the ETSI Industry Specification Group on millimetre wave transmission (ISG mWT) to prepare for large-scale use of 30GHz to 300GHz spectrum. The group agreed to develop five new specifications covering field maturity, use cases, V-band and E-band regulations, street-level interference analysis, and semiconductor technology status. Millimetre wave bands offer fibre-like capacity with larger channel bandwidths, easier spectrum reuse, and lower licensing costs to reduce total cost of ownership. Participation is open to all ETSI members and non-members who sign the ISG agreements, with membership details available on the ETSI portal.
