ETSI MEC has released a new Group Specification extending network information services to WiFi environments, thereby bringing edge computing capabilities directly into enterprise settings. This update builds upon the organization’s existing 36 published specifications to address industry fragmentation by promoting alignment, common practices, and agile value integration. The initiative aims to accelerate time-to-market and support monetization strategies for operators through flexible MEC APIs that align with GSMA and NGMN standards. By offering these standardized tools, the specification seeks to simplify innovation co-creation and foster broader industry adoption of edge cloud ecosystems.
