The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking has selected 27 new research projects under its second call, securing €130 million in EU funding to advance 6G technology development starting in January 2024. These initiatives focus on system architecture, wireless signal processing, and microelectronics, with a specific emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence and ensuring sustainability. Key outcomes include the establishment of a federated Pan-EU experimental infrastructure and a dedicated EU-US cooperation project to harmonize global 6G standards. The portfolio now totals 62 projects, building toward large-scale trials and pilots that will validate 6G applications in vertical sectors like mobility and healthcare.
